Hootananny Brixton is an inclusive venue, and we welcome Deaf and disabled customers.

Venue Description
From the beer garden, there is one step to access the pub entrance. There is also a further step to enter the door. There are two ramps available there which security will assist in putting in place when required.

Bookable Access Facilities + How to Apply
Personal Assistant tickets, please arrange at the box office on the night.
Hootananny Brixton offer a PA ticket at no additional charge to a Deaf or disabled customer who cannot attend our venue without support. You may be asked for evidence.

Accessible viewing area
If you require a seat to watch the show, please ask at the box office on arrival. We offer high stools to the left nearer the front of the venue. The position is backed by a dog-leg of two walls with a soundproofed blocked-in large pub window on one side or at the back of the venue.

Travel Guide and Arrival Guide
We do not have our own car park, however, there are accessible street parking options available on Arlingford Road
Drop off point 45 metres from Morval Road to entrance, 25 metres from Brixton Water Lane to entrance.
There are a number of bus stops within very close proximity to the venue
Brixton Tube is 0.5 miles and Brixton Rail station is 0.7 miles from the venue.

Toilets
We do not have an accessible toilet in our venue, but we do have an agreement with the White Horse Pub, Brixton Hill, which is 0.3 miles away. Our standard toilets are step free, with 690mm minimum width of the corridor.

Customers with Medical Requirements
We welcome customers who may need to bring food, drink, medicine or medical equipment to manage a medical condition. Please advise the box office on arrival.

Assistance Dogs
We welcome assistance dogs. If you intend to bring one to a busy weekend night, we advise the venue maybe at capacity with 870 capacity and you may like to discuss bringing your dog inside the venue with the duty manager of the night.

Strobe Lighting
We have strobe lighting in the venue. We have signs advising customers of strobe lighting.

Respite space
If you have need of a respite space, either look to the chill out bar or the beer garden or we offer a quiet seat in the box office, which is not accessible for wheelchair users. Or if more suitable return to the gate and ask to be escorted out with the option to return as required. If this is a concern, please call us to discuss.

Artist support
We ask artists to speak to the Music Department about needs at the booking stage. The stage is 1.16m high with 5 steps, highlighted with white tape, protected by safety rail. Green Room is level access to venue.

Lost Property
Email lost-property@hootananny.co.uk and we will check the emails once a week either on Monday or Tuesday evenings. We will contact you only if we find your lost item.
ID

We look forward to welcoming you to Hootananny. We have an over 18s license. You are required to bring your ID and show it when the box office is open after 11pm, regardless of age. The box office will scan your ID in compliance with local licensing requirements but also in compliance with GDPR regulations. Please check our privacy policy. The club can turn down entry on the basis of age, inebriation, prior bad behaviour. Our license requires it to be a proprietary members club to which only members gain entrance after 11pm who may be turned away on the basis of age, inebriation, prior bad behaviour. Admission is at the box office.  The club holds AGMS every April to which all members are invited.  We look forward to welcoming you to all our gigs before or after 11pm.

Hootananny works with DICE ticket provider. If you have an issue with your ticket please contact them direct to resolve it.

Private Parties
Hootananny is a first come first served venue. We have a large number of outside tables and inside tables and areas for groups to get together. We suggest you come early in the evening if you would like an area for your group . We do not reserve spaces for groups. We hope you have a brilliant time.
Venue Not for Profit

On October 12, 2023 Hootananny Brixton Venue CIC was incorporated with Companies House. It is a not-for-profit social enterprise that is owned and operated by its members for the benefit of the local community in Lambeth and the surrounding areas. Our admission charges cover both the show costs and the performer fees. Any surplus generated from events promoted by the CIC beyond that goes towards enhancing the local grassroots music scene, as per our objects. Please note that as a not-for-profit organisation we benefit from cultural exemption of VAT on any admission charges to live music events, further supporting our community purpose. The pub and backpackers hostel remain a Ltd company.

SAFER SPACE

Hootananny aims to create a safer space

  • We will not tolerate behaviour which makes customers, staff or acts feel unsafe
  • If anyone on the premises feels unsafe we invite them to communicate this to our security and staff to ensure offending customers, staff or musicians asked to leave
  • We are part of the Ask for Angela scheme; Ask for Angela is there to help vulnerable people, primarily women, in public places. If you go to the bar and ask for ‘Angela’ the bar staff will know you need help getting out of your situation and will call you a taxi or help you out discreetly – without too much fuss
  • We have had training with the Campaign for Good Night Out so that we can better understand, respond to, and prevent sexual harassment and assault in our spaces
Cloakroom
We have a cloakroom every Friday and Saturday night and on some midweek gigs if they are booked out.

Strobe Lights
Strobe lighting and other intense lighting will be used during our shows. It may not be safe for some people with epilepsy and other conditions with sensitivity to light.

Our bars accept all major credit/debit cards. We also accept American Express. Hootananny is a cashless venue.
